Boston harbor quincy restaurants9/24/2023 Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Dim sum, wok-tossed noodles, duck and seafood capture the spotlight on Red 8’s menu, which is punctuated with authentic, regional, Asian specialties. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Red 8 is Encore Boston Harbor’s signature Asian restaurant for casual and celebratory dining experiences, featuring both classic dishes and the surprising, hard-to-find delicacies. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. At the very least the Marina is a great place to bring visitors, walk around, have some drinks and watch the boats head in or out and try to grab a sunset.The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. The highlights for us is their pho, pad thai and Peking Raviolis and wingdings. Stellar seafood and stunning harbor vistas collide at Boston Sail Loft, a beloved North End-adjacent spot that’s been in business since the mid-80s. Those who use the marina call in and pick up foods to take on their boats throughout nice weather. They also sell good pizza, sandwiches etc. Gavie is so nice & is a formally trained chef specializing in Vietnamese food. A hidden food gem- altho w/no view or ambience and located in a small store- is Gaveston's. The Waterclub is always popping with the younger crowd in the summer with music & dancing. We tried the Chantey once but w/no view and barely mediocre food we wouldn't return. But food has always been just okay for the price. From Captain Fishbones (we love their outside bar on the dock) to Siros or Port 305 you can't go wrong with the views. It's just short on many levels as it could be stellar. We've tried most of the restaurants & bars and although they're great for drinks the food does not match the environment. We live near there and head there a lot even in winter when it's quiet & watch a football game at one of the bars. You can stroll down the board walk past multiple restaurants and bars and watch the boats in the marina. This is the place to head to when the sun is out and it's nice weather. So whether one is heading out on a ferry or strolling over to the Marina Bay shops and restaurants, the price to park is one of the best bargains the waterfront has to offer. Squantum Point Park at Marina Bay also provides ridiculously affordable parking at $1.25/hour with a full day maximum fee of $5.00. For those who would enjoy a narrated tour there is one remaining narrated cruise in August, one twilight cruise in August and two coming up in September. An inexpensive round trip voyage affords one an opportunity to see much of what's going on in Boston Harbor from the southern to northern most parts. General passenger tickets are $8.50 one way and seniors ride for $6.50 one way. The ferries run from June through October with five daily departures, and four different departure times on Saturdays and Sundays. Department of Conservation and Recreation has created the Squantum Point Marine Park and ferry dock at the end of Victory Road, the main thoroughfare into Marina Bay and directly adjacent to the newest Marina Bay residential towers.įrom Squantum Point one has great views of the marina, harbor islands, the iconic gas tank, Boston skyline and, since 2016, access to ferry boats that shuttle passengers from Quincy to Fan Pier at Boston's Seaport District Central Wharf, which is nearby the New England Aquarium and financial district and Winthrop, a seaside community at the northern entrance to Boston Harbor. Where once stood an old naval air station, the Mass. Much has been written about Marina Bay's tourist attracting shops, bars and restaurants, but a relatively new addition, the Quincy to Winthrop Ferry, is one of the best bargains to be found on the waterfront.
